☀️Summer can bring a break from routines, but that change can feel overwhelming for some children. With a few simple strategies, you can help make the season feel more predictable, comfortable, and fun.

🌿 Build a predictable daily structure: Even during summer break, having a predicatable routine can help reduce uncertainty. Try using visuals or simple schedules to outline the day and be better prepared for changes.
🧢 Plan for sensory needs: Outdoor activities can mean bright sun, heat, noise, and crowds. Pack essentials like sunglasses, hats, noise‑reducing headphones, or favourite comfort items to help your child stay regulated.
⏳ Prepare for transitions: Moving between activities like leaving the park or ending screen time can be tricky. Giving gentle warnings such as “5 more minutes” can make transitions smoother.
🎒 Create a “go‑to” kit: Bring a small bag with snacks, water, fidgets, and calming tools when heading out. Having familiar items on hand can make new environments feel safer.
🌊 Follow their interests: Summer is a great time to explore what your child enjoys, whether it’s water play, nature walks, building, or creative activities. Let their interests guide the fun.
💬 Practice before new experiences: If you have a trip, camp, or event coming up, talk through what to expect ahead of time. Social stories or simple explanations can build confidence.

There’s no one right way to do summer. Small adjustments can go a long way in helping your child feel supported, engaged, and able to enjoy the season in their own way. ☀️
