When a child’s life hangs in the balance, there is no room for trial and error.

That is why the Michael Gunning Simulation Centre at Children's Hospital is so important.

It gives new and seasoned frontline teams a realistic, high-stakes environment where they can sharpen skills, strengthen teamwork and prepare for critical situations before they happen in real life.

These realistic, hands-on sessions help physicians, nurses and respiratory therapists practise high-pressure emergency scenarios, strengthen teamwork and improve readiness before a real child’s life is on the line.

The centre trains roughly 2,400 learners each year and now reaches 33 community hospitals across the region through outreach education.

With $160,000 needed this year to support the Simulation Centre, your gift can help ensure hospital teams are ready when a child’s life depends on it.

This June, we celebrated a different kind of graduation at Children’s Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC).💙

At our first-ever Transition in Care graduation, patients marked an important milestone – moving from paediatric to adult care. It was a day filled with pride, reflection and emotion, as each graduate looks ahead to their next chapter.

From years of care to lifelong memories, these young people have shown incredible strength and resilience every step of the way.

Children can look very unwell, very quickly.

Fever, pain, breathing trouble, dehydration — even when the illness is treatable, it can be terrifying for parents.

Paediatric emergency physicians are constantly balancing the clinical needs of the child with the emotions of the family, knowing that fear can shape every conversation.

For Dr. Levin, every case begins the same way — by listening.

In emergency medicine, she says, everyone comes with a story, and it is the team’s job to listen closely enough to find what matters most.

Click through to see a snapshot of a typical shift — a reminder that in paediatric emergency, no two hours are ever the same.
