With the temperatures soaring this week, your air conditioner doesn’t have to work overtime. Here are a few simple ways to keep your home cool while saving on your energy bill:
✅ Keep blinds and curtains closed during the hottest part of the day to block out the sun.
✅ Set your thermostat to a consistent temperature (around 24–26°C when you’re home). Constantly lowering it won’t cool your home faster—it only makes your system work harder.
✅ Change your furnace/AC filter regularly. A clean filter improves airflow and helps your system run more efficiently.
✅ Use ceiling fans. Fans help circulate cool air, allowing you to raise your thermostat a couple of degrees without sacrificing comfort.
✅ Avoid using ovens and dryers during the hottest part of the day. These appliances add unnecessary heat to your home.
✅ Keep vents and registers clear of furniture and curtains so cool air can circulate freely.
✅ Schedule regular maintenance with us. A well-maintained air conditioner runs more efficiently, lasts longer, and is less likely to break down during a heat wave.
🌡️ Remember: Your air conditioner should maintain a comfortable indoor temperature, but on extremely hot days, it may not be able to cool your home more than about 10–15°C below the outdoor temperature. That’s normal and doesn’t necessarily mean there’s a problem.

☀️ Get Your Air Conditioning System Ready for Summer! ❄️

Before turning on your A/C for the season, take a few minutes to prepare your outdoor condenser unit:
✅ Remove the cover and make sure the power is OFF
✅ Hose down the unit to remove dirt and debris
✅ Use a soft brush or water to clean carefully

⚠️ Be gentle — the condenser fins bend easily and can affect performance if damaged.

After cleaning, do a quick visual inspection of the outdoor unit. If you notice any damage, don’t turn the system on — give us a call first.

It’s also a great time to replace your furnace filter for better airflow and efficiency.
