July 15 is World Youth Skills Day, a good moment to look at what young people actually need to build a career in today's job market.

These stats from UNESCO are telling:

273 million children and youth are out of school worldwide, and close to 1 in 5 people aged 15–34 aren't connected to any formal skills training.

At the same time, 40% of today's skillsets no longer match what employers are looking for, and nearly a quarter of jobs will look different by 2030.

This year's theme, "Skills for a shared future," is about more than technical training. It's building the digital, AI, green, and social skills young people need to navigate a changing world.
