Job Title: Electronics Engineer
Location: Medicine Hat, AB
Employment Type: Full-Time (On-Site)

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Electronics Engineer to join our engineering team in Medicine Hat, AB. This role is critical to designing, developing, and testing advanced electronic systems for our UAV platforms. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with expertise in circuit design, communication protocols, and RF technologies, ready to address complex challenges in defense aerospace applications.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and layout circuits and printed circuit boards (PCBs) for UAV systems, ensuring reliability and performance in demanding conditions.
• Develop and integrate efficient power supply solutions to meet the energy requirements of unmanned aerial vehicles.
• Implement communication interfaces, including RS-232, RS-422, USB, HDMI, and Ethernet, for reliable data transmission.
• Design and optimize mixed-signal circuits combining digital logic and analog components for robust subsystems.
• Perform electronic and RF testing, troubleshooting, and system optimization to ensure high performance.
• Collaborate on mesh network implementations to enhance UAV connectivity and coordination.
• Utilize specialized test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, power supply units, signal/function generators, and multimeters, for validation and testing.
• Execute precise soldering on various IC and component packages, including surface-mount and through-hole, to support prototyping and assembly.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Minimum of 3 years of electronics design experience for Bachelor’s degree holders, or 5+ years for Electronics Engineering Technologists.
• Proven expertise in PCB layout design using tools such as Mentor Graphics, Altium, Eagle, or equivalent.
• In-depth knowledge of power electronics, communication protocols (RS-232, RS-422, USB, HDMI, Ethernet), and mixed-signal circuits.
• Hands-on experience with RF testing, troubleshooting, and mesh networking technologies.
• Proficiency with test equipment, including spectrum/vector network/audio analyzers, oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal/function generators, and multimeters.
• Exceptional soldering skills across various IC and component packages, including surface-mount and through-hole.
• Ability to thrive in a startup environment with tight deadlines and evolving requirements.
• Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Valid passport for international and regional travel.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with UAV or drone electronics in defense applications.
• Familiarity with RF compliance and testing standards.
• Knowledge of FPGA or microcontroller programming.
• NATO Secret security clearance or eligibility (due to defense industry focus).
