When I decided to leave everything behind and relocate to Canada, I was terrified.

Black. A woman. No Canadian education, no Canadian work experience, no connections.

I had so many questions
How would I start over from scratch?
Would I ever succeed here?
Would I thrive, or would I struggle?

Everything seemed so hazy...
Then I remembered this poem.
And these words gave me the courage to forge ahead anyway.
I decided to tap into my God-given talents, skills, knowledge, and experience

Every award.
Every milestone.
Every breakthrough.
It all started with one decision: to believe in myself and never play small.
Even if I was the only Black woman in the room...
Even if I was building a business in a male-dominated industry...
Even if the odds weren't in my favour...

I decided I would triumph against all odds.
And by the grace of God, I did.
