NOTICE TO THUNDERBIRD FAST DRAW CLUB MEMBERS/ASSOCIATES;
First; HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL! As well, I've finally caught up with my reports on the Thunderbird FDClub's activities of 2025-with the exception of some of our 2025 photos, a few of which I've included in this report.
For now, our next 'big thing' is our RE-OPENING of our FD Group on January 16, 2026!
As is usual, it will be on Friday evening at 7pm @ the Langley Rod & Gun Club. This will also be THE LAST CHANCE for any of our Gun Of The Month competitors to 'Make Up' for any missed G.O.M. events of last year, due to the fact that LR&GC NEEDS to know our results for their Year End Awards which will be given out next month-therefore we will NEED the time in between for the Trophies to be engraved.
And so it goes...let's hope for a good turnout of our shooters for this 'Grand Opening Of 2026' this coming Friday!
And, so our members will know in plenty of time here; we are also getting engraved three position trophies for an upcoming FIVE CARD STUD event on February the 13th of this year. Women will also be up against for this particular championship, that's THREE PLACES from 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, and no matter which gender you belong to-ONE of you will be our Five Card Stud {'Stud”-you'd think this would be for men only...?} Champion! The target{s} will be the WFDA Standard Silhouettes with the 'gambler's table's far edge being 7 ft. Away from the target, and the event will be a five shot total. We can set it up for two shooters @ time for Practice one Friday night prior to the event itself. Anyone whom has not done this event before can be given some 'schooling' in the Dry Fire area prior to both nights as well. Entry Fee; same as a Gun Of The Month. {there are no separate divisions in this one for Fanning or Thumbing, you can do either one or the other during the main event.
As for what's been happening with Tbirds in the meantime, well, Karen, alone this time as Jeanine MacCarthy was ill at the time, ran the LR&GClub kitchen during the Boxing Day contest, while John LeBlanc gave out the meat Prizes for the different events that day. [I actually won 10 Pork Chops at the Shoot Card draws.} It was GOOD to see and talk to former FD shooter, Big Dave Burgraff, again, as he usually shows up at this event with his shotgun. This time Dave gave me a Trigger Shoe, that he'd brought with him for one of my sixguns. {With THANKS, Dave!} As for Boxing Day, I helped the Trap Crew load clay birds-and used the then emptied cardboard boxes to keep the fires going in the fire barrels. People were actually begging for them as it was so cold that day. {Rained mostly all morning.} One must WATCH OUT for falling Trap Covers if the 'locking post' is not set in securely! Someone else had set in the post on this one Trap I was at, and, as I was stationed in front and up top, I had just turned to grab a claybird from my pile, when the overhead Trap cover slammed down, just missing my right shoulder! Then I heard the muffled yell of the young Trap Boy caught underneath of the now closed Trap Machine! It was all I could do to get up & lift it up. Luckily, the boy was one of the shorter ones, or it could have slammed on his head-and broken his neck! Crap does happen!
Next up was this Tuesday, where Karen & myself attended the first AAFFA {Aldergrove Fair} meeting of 2026! The new AAFFA Directors do appear anxious to get a'goin' @ this time!
THANKS TO ALL for your support-it's been great-and we are VERY grateful!
