Here's what happened. 👇

A nearly completed **35-storey rental tower** in East Vancouver entered court-supervised receivership after a lender sought to recover **$109 million**.

Court documents filed in a separate lawsuit also include allegations from a former senior employee that Westbank is in a "financially precarious position."

Those allegations include claims of:

⚠️ Significant staff layoffs

⚠️ Asset sales to cover debts

⚠️ Suppliers waiting for payment

It's important to note:

❌ Westbank denies the allegations and says none of the claims have been proven in court.

The company also says the receivership was undertaken **co-operatively** with its lender to help complete the project in an orderly way.

So why does this matter?

It's another sign of the pressure many developers are facing today.

📉 Higher interest rates

📉 Slower condo sales

📉 Rising construction costs

📉 Tighter financing

Even large, well-known developers aren't immune.

For buyers and investors, it's a reminder that the market isn't just challenging for consumers...

It's challenging for builders too.

Comment **"WESTBANK"** if you'd like me to explain what receivership means and whether buyers or tenants should be concerned.
