Food Banks Canada's most recent HungerCount Report found that in 2025, food banks across Canada recorded nearly 2.2 million visits in a single month - double what it was just six years ago.

Needless to say, Canada's food banks are under more pressure than ever right now, with demand growing by the day. The Pender Island Food Bank is no exception.

With Grant embedded in the Pender community almost full-time, we see firsthand how much the Pender Island Food Bank means to the people who live here year-round. Food banks are one of those things that some of us are fortunate to be able to overlook in our day-to-day lives - until you realize just how many families and individuals depend on them, and how much it takes to keep them running.
