Drawing Basics: Explore materials, the diversity of paper, draw what you see. Shading, create texture and value. Group lessons.

Acrylic Basics: Fundamental steps of painting, priming canvas to creating your composition, choosing a palette and colour mixing. Group lessons.

Watercolour Basics: Explore the unique relationship of pigment and paper. Learn about washes, dry brush. Group lessons.

Group Lessons: A course of 8 sessions, 3 hours each. Price: $192.00, in advance. Materials not included (lists provided). Students get 10% discount at VIU Bookstore. Application by separate form, cash or cheque only.

Profile

I am a visual artist and have been drawing and painting since early childhood. I enjoy working in a variety of media; oils, acrylics, watercolour, pastel, pencil, pen and ink. Each work is carefully planned, with preliminary sketches, drawings and paintings made to design the composition and choose the colour palette.

My subject matters reflect my love of the outdoors, rural living and a passion for gardening.

I am a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists with active status. Within the FCA, my work has been shown on Vancouver Island and in Vancouver. I have also had work exhibited in group and solo shows.

Currently, I am working towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Vancouver Island University. As well, I have taken numerous classes and workshops in composition and in acrylic and watercolour painting. My personal goal is to continue developing my skills as an artist, to explore opportunities in the world of art, and to share and learn from other artists.
