NOTICE | Eckville Flood Study Underway

Lacombe County residents may notice survey crews working along the Medicine River and Lasthill Creek this summer. This work is part of the Eckville Flood Study, a provincial initiative to better understand flood risks in our region.

The study will assess:
• 18 km of the Medicine River
• 7 km of Lasthill Creek

What to expect:
Survey crews will be collecting river and ground elevation data in June and July to support updated flood mapping and hazard identification. This important work will help:
✔ Improve public safety
✔ Support emergency response planning
✔ Inform future development decisions

The study is currently in its early stages, with completion expected in spring 2027.
