Day 4 of sharing my favourite places in Northern Saskatchewan for
Today's location is the Heritage Trail in Air Ronge. This 3.7 km one way trail takes you along the Montreal River from the village of Air Ronge all the way to Bigstone Lake. It's the perfect place to catch a beautiful sunset, as long as you realize the sun is setting and it's going to get dark on your walk back.
Depending on the time of year, there is an abundance of birds and wildlife to spot along the trail. Recently the trail has been added to the Trans Canada Trail network, allowing for funding opportunities to make improvements on the trail.
The Heritage Trail is definitely a hidden gem and I could comfortably say it is one of the top trails in all of Saskatchewan for casual hikers.
If you haven't visited it yet, I would highly recommend adding it to your to-do list.

Day 2 of posting my favourite places in Northern Saskatchewan for - is of course the widely known Nistowiak Falls. Here's me "majestically" standing below the falls and getting soaked from the mist around me.
These falls are only accessible by water in summer. Most people will either hire to shuttle them to the falls, or paddle from Stanley Mission. Paddling to Nistowiak Falls will typically be a 2-3 day trip - depending on your skills levels, the weather, and how much paddling you plan on doing throughout a day.
In winter, the falls are usually accessed by snowmobile - but a group has been known to fatbike all the way from Missinipe to Nistowiak Falls once a year.

Celebrating by sharing some of my favourite Northern Saskatchewan locations every day this week. Today is Robertson Falls. This is one of my favorite places to do an overnight paddle to. It's located on the Churchill River down from Missinipe and only takes a few hours to get to.
As a bonus you can spend an extra day doing a loop to North Falls and then back up through Twin Falls to experience the trifecta of waterfalls.
Anyone interested in doing this canoe trip, either on their own or as a guided service, can contact for help as their office is located right in Missinipe.
