You likely remember our June post lamenting the loss of our collection of indigenous art when our store building burned down. Though our store was a total loss, and none of the beadwork inside survived, we made a discovery while we were cleaning out the Robertson family home— making room for friends who’d lost their home in the same fires. We found a secret stash of beadwork that Alex Robertson hid in his home, containing 13 pairs of fully beaded moccasins.

This small collection of moccasins, curated by the La Ronge Arts Council, will be on display during the month of November, at the Alex Robertson Public Library in La Ronge. This is only a fragment of our former collection, and one we didn’t realized existed until recently, but it’s beautiful work. We are so pleased to still be able to share some of the amazing handwork that we were able to collect during our nearly 60 years in business.
