In healthcare, busting myths can be life-saving. In honour of RedDAY, Dr. Gabe Acosta and Al Qahwash from Waterloo Regional Health Network - WRHN are breaking down common cardiac misconceptions to help our community take control of their heart health.

This focus on education and early intervention is the exact mission behind the PREVENT Clinic, powered by Manulife.

Let's turn this knowledge into action 👉 this Saturday, the community is lacing up for the first-ever Manulife RedDAY Walk.

There is no registration fee to participate, and every dollar raised works twice as hard thanks to Manulife’s incredible $200,000 donation match.

Sign up your family and friends today at RedDAY.ca!

Nikki credits three things with saving her life: her husband’s insistence on calling an ambulance, the quick-acting paramedics, and the excellent care she received at Waterloo Regional Health Network - WRHN.

Her heart attack highlighted the importance of having an excellent healthcare network – complete with a top cardiac program – close to home.

This RedDAY, when you step up for preventative care at the Manulife RedDAY Walk on June 6th, you’re helping prevent cardiac events like Nikki’s.

Register for free today or donate at RedDAY.ca — thanks to Manulife, every single dollar raised is being matched dollar-for-dollar up to $200,000!

Today, we are celebrating the 1st anniversary of the WRHN Foundation!

One year ago today, we officially came together to form the Waterloo Regional Health Network Foundation. Following the merger of our local hospitals, we joined forces to create a unified voice supporting the healthcare needs of 1.4 million people - 10% of Ontarians! 🏥❤️

With our region’s population on track for significant growth, coming together means we can meet complex healthcare needs and fund advanced medical equipment that isn't covered by government funding.

Thank you to every donor, corporate partner, and community member for standing with us during this transformative first year. Together, we are ensuring our community has access to the best possible care, close to home.

Our physician recruitment fundraising campaign closes tonight. We need 50 more donors to give and help us improve access to care across our communities.

Your gift by midnight will help us recruit more family physicians and hospital specialists to our region.

Be part of the solution:
🔹 1 in 5 people across Waterloo Region do not have a family doctor.
🔹 Nearly 1 in 3 patients who visit WRHN’s emergency departments (ED) are unattached to a primary care provider.
🔹 WRHN’s EDs were designed to handle 320 patients per day. Earlier this year, they averaged 400 patients per day, 25% more than their intended capacity.

For many, the ED is becoming one of the only sources for seeking medical care, and when that happens, wait times surge. As our population grows towards 1 million residents, we need to act now to address this family doctor shortage together.
