TECHNIQUE TUESDAY
Recently while volunteering at Furnace Falls Farm, I have been getting to do some food art. For the Father's Day Brunch, I got to lay out and decorate all the dessert platters! I had so much fun using herbs, edible "w**ds", and edible flowers! I neglected to take pictures :S
Today on my way home from town, I stopped off at Wendy's Country Market ( right beside Furnace Falls Farm and owned by Wendy Banks ) and picked myself up some Buffalo milk mozzarella, some local greenhouse tomatoes, and some garlic scapes!
Here is my second lunch creation! I'm inspired!
Buffalo Mozzarella, foreman tomatoes, avocados with balsamic and olive oil drizzle, basil and purple basil garnish caprese salad.
Haddock with lemon butter sauce with dill, pineapple w**d, and chive flower garnish.
Coconut oil sauteed garlic scapes.
A little local inspired health! YUM!
The two types of basil, dill, and chive came from my herb garden. The pineapple w**d came from my back yard.
Although the haddock came from the grocery store, it was wild which is so much less polluted and better for you.
So, what does this have to do with Technique Tuesday? Well, when our food looks pleasing, it begins the digestion process because it gets the saliva flowing in our mouth. Then when we chew the delightful flavours of local food which tastes so much better than most stuff in the grocery store, it mixes all that saliva with the food to begin the digestion.
I invite you to become creative with your food! For classes on local, wild, edible w**ds, check out Furnace Falls Farm's Foraging classes with Chef Mark Beacock !
