Above is a poem I wrote last June.

As I post it today, I think about how often I needlessly stress myself out. It is such an energy waste. It doesn’t make tasks go faster or help me get more done, it only wears me down. If you were wondering what to do today, join me in trying to enjoy each thing you do for its own sake, without worrying about the other things you aren’t doing.

Who knows, it could be fun!

Well, my friends, it was a brief life, but Jordan Creek is dead. He served a purpose, he gave me a name to perform under for the last year and a half, but I hadn’t released any music under his name yet, I didn’t feel like I owed him anything and I decided it was time to move on. He was a nice guy, but he was a little boring, and I found having two different last names confusing.

Lightning Fridge was serendipitously bestowed upon me by a (then) 5 year old that I work with. We were playing a game where we were farmers that were also superheroes that rescued imaginary stranded animals. He settled on his name - Energy Boost - but we were struggling to find one for me that he found acceptable. When I finally suggested “Fridge”, he exclaimed, “Yes! Lightning Fridge.” I instantly loved it.

My good friend used the new prowess of AI to generate this logo. I am stoked on the logo, and I love the hilarious spelling of Lightning. Though, I am not sure what to think about AI in general. I understand why people are excited about it, and I understand why people worry about a future technological dystopia. I feel that we are already in one in many ways - and it could get better! - but that doesn’t mean it won’t get worse. For many of us, our jobs and/or artistic endeavors hinge on being engaged with (and thereby encouraging the use of) technologies that are developed to be as addicting as possible. It takes being intentional and diligent to use these apps as a tool, instead of having them use you. But, I digress.

On that weird note, I hope today is a day where you give yourself permission to not be so hard on yourself, and even to be happy. We function better when we have more energy. We have more energy when we are joyful.

I look forward to sharing more with you. ❤️

P.S. - I recommend checking out the music video for the song playing in the background. I think a lot of us are "trying to feed the fire, while hoping that it dies".
