It’s hard to comprehend that she’s already gone. Just over a month ago, we didn’t know she was sick.

What started as mild medical concerns became a doctor’s visit, then emergency scans, then an ambulance call on January 11th. Four weeks later she entered hospice with a terminal cancer diagnosis. Eight days after that, on February 15th, she passed away.

I don’t have inspiring words about grief or loss. I’m not on the other side of it. I’m in the middle where it feels unreal and too real at the same time.

When I began upgrading my instruments after closing the studio, my intention was to work with grief and eventually offer sound journeys in hospice settings. I didn’t expect the first hospice I would sit in would be for my own mother.

I’m not sure when I’ll return to .collective for sound journeys. Likely in the spring, when there’s a bit more light. 🤍

I cannot wait to share the magic of my new instruments with you. 🫠

Every time I get the chance to play in the energy field with Zach I learn new and slightly unhinged ways to co-create sound with the instruments themselves. His endless wonder sparks my wonder and no one ever knows what new sound is coming next 😌
