As we close out Family Day long weekend, we’ve been reflecting on the family of partners it takes to persevere through recovery. At the centre of our collective focus is community, but the network to execute is broad and national in scale. No one community can do it alone.

On our trip to Ottawa last month, this sentiment came to the forefront during discussions with the Honourable Eleanor Olszewski, Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Community Resilience when she showed authentic care, understanding, and commitment to Jasper.

Within days of that discussion, the minister received a new appointment from Prime Minister Mark Carney as Ministerial Lead for Jasper. He said, “The people of Jasper have shown remarkable resilience as they rebuild their lives, their homes, and their businesses. Canada’s new government has a long-term commitment to reconstruction, and Minister Olszewski will lead these efforts to ensure the town of Jasper rebuilds and recovers for generations to come.”

Congratulations Minister Olszewski on this designation, and thanks to all our partners for their sustained assistance as we move into new, but equally important phases of our community’s build back.
