Innovating with empathy: Student-led research team earns silver for novel bacterial treatment McMaster SynBio, a student-led research team, has received an award for their work on a biological therapy project targeting inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

💙We are so excited to announce that we have won a Silver Medal in the 2021 iGEM competition, for our project on the targeted elimination of the invasive Ecoli strain, AIEC, in inflammatory bowel disease.

💙iGEM is the largest synthetic biology competition in the world, with more than 300 international participating teams representing Universities such as Harvard, MIT, and more.

💙This is the first time that a team from McMaster has achieved a Silver Medal in the iGEM competition and we could not be more proud.

💙This achievement would not have been possible without our amazing and dedicated team who worked for about 2 years to prepare for iGEM. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our amazing sponsors who provided us with support along this process.

💙At last, we would like to thank you for following our journey to iGEM. This is just the beginning, stay tuned🤩
