A bit of a lategram, but better late than never. I was hoping to post more frequently over Juno Week, but at some point, I had to tell myself to just be in the moment.

Here are a few pics from my 2026 Junos experience. So many highs. So many fruitful conversations. So many great connections made. I left Hamilton inspired and motivated.

I was proud to represent Alberta’s music community and the Junos Rap Music Advisory Committee. There is a lot of work ahead of us, and I am here for it.

Congrats to all the nominees and winners. Alberta’s Black music community had a record number of nominations this year. Let’s keep our foot on the pedal and have even more nominations next year.

HIGHLIGHTS

The 5th Annual Black Music Brunch - Thank you, DJ Mel Boogie, for staying the course and continuing to gather the community to build, connect and celebrate us. This is more than a well-produced and curated party; it’s a statement!

Jully Black’s speech at the Gala - Pioneers like Jully Black, Saukrates, Infinite, and so many more laid a foundation that we take for granted. Unfortunately, there is still very little infrastructure for our community in this industry in this country, so we have to be intentional and take the initiative not only to pass the baton forward but also to pass it back, as Tobi did. Whether it’s for a feature, production, songwriting, mentoring or whatever, include the OGs. They have a lot of insights that can help us grow artistically and professionally.

The ADVANCE Photo - This was a moment! It literally could have been a scene in a movie. So glad to be a part of this. Seeing us all come together and the way in which it was orchestrated was a reminder to me of the power of community and great leadership. Thanks Keziah… 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿

The Alberta presence - From those whom I refer to as expats to those who still call Alberta home- we had quite a presence over the course of the week. We should take pride in the contributions our province has made to the national music scene. From securing Juno nominations to hosting nationally syndicated radio shows to being A&Rs for major labels, our impact cannot be understated.

A few images from my first day of the 2026 Junos here in Hamilton. Huge shout-out to and for putting on yesterday. It was such a dope event! Edmonton was definitely out there representing!!!

There were many OGs in the building, which is particularly important, given our rich history in Canada related to Black Music.
