Trauma and Recovery Research Unit

Are you a military veteran or public safety personnel (i.e., fire fighter, paramedic, police officer, emergency dispatcher, healthcare worker, correctional worker, Indigenous emergency manager, border services officer, search and rescue personnel, or operational intelligence personnel) living in Ontario? Do you suspect that you have experienced a posttraumatic stress injury (PTSI)?

We are seeking volunteers to participate in a study examining the impact of SENsory Strategies Education (SENSE), a novel virtual psychoeducation program for reducing PTSI symptoms and increasing sensory tolerance. Participation in this study involves completing five 2-hour group sessions of SENSE and various assessments (i.e., surveys, interviews, computer tasks) at three time points.

🌟 Calling all Public Safety Personnel (PSPs) in Ontario! 🌟

PSPs are regularly exposed to stressful and traumatic events in their line of work – such experiences can impact mental health, cognitive functioning, and overall well-being.

We invite you to join our research study on Goal Management Training (GMT)! This 9-week online intervention aims to improve your cognitive skills, mental health, and everyday functioning through weekly group sessions.

🧠 What You’ll Do:

• Participate in group sessions via Zoom.
• Complete questionnaires and several individual appointments.
You will be randomly assigned to either a standard version or a modified version of GMT.
