🩸Did you know that period poverty affects one-third of Canadian menstrators? Have you ever thought about what these statistics look like for someone who is incarcerated?
🩸In Canadian prisons, menstrual products are supplied to the incarcerated population, however the supply is very limited and what an inmate receives on a monthly basis is not sustainable for a single moon cycle. Many incarcerated individuals are left with no other option other than having to bargain for menstrual products every month or rationing their supply. This can result in the overuse of a single product, which can lead to dangerous and life threatening complications.
🩸Menstrual products that the prison system supplies are not made with the same care and quality as the products one can easily access at their local drugstore. Sadly, in so many cases the ones who are employed to protect and help, mock natural bodily functions and/or ignore inmate requests for menstrual products. This is the heartbreaking reality for many incarcerated menstruators across the globe.
🩸Through advocacy, education, ally-ship and informative conversations, we can help bridge the gap for those in our community who are experiencing period inequity in prison. A great place to start is by donating and conducting your own research on how to contribute towards bridging this gap on period inequity.
🩸In addition to that, you can also send a PWYC (pay what you can) Etranfer to me, at [email protected] making the answer PERIODDRIVE. 100% of all donations goes directly towards the purchase of menstrual products for the Elizabeth Fry Society Southern Ontario Region
♥️Every single person with a uterus deserves to experience their cycle in comfort and confidence. It IS possible and a better world awaits!♥️

It has almost been a full year of Period Drives!
In that time, thanks to everyone who has donated and contributed in some form we have raised just a little under $1500. With that money, 311 packages of pads and 89 boxes of tampons have been purchased for the Elizabeth Fry Society Southern Ontario Region
This averages out to around 5600 individual pads and 1600 tampons. The clients, staff of Efry and myself cannot thank you all enough!
To donate to Period Drive for the month of November please send a PAY WHAT YOU CAN etransfer to [email protected] ❤️
