As the snow starts to fall in Southern Ontario, home heating tips are in order. We are checking in to see if you have prepared your heating system for winter.

It's essential to have a heater that works all season properly.

1. Replace your HVAC filter.
As a general rule, you should replace your HVAC filter every season.
2. Prepare your vents/registers.
We suggest dusting the vents or registers throughout your home before you use your heater.
3. Remove nearby objects.
Before you turn on your heater, remove any objects near your unit or on top of it.
4. Cover up your air conditioner.
If you have a traditional HVAC unit, buy a cover for your air conditioning condenser.
5. Turn up the thermostat.
Before using your heater regularly, please turn it on and test it to ensure it works properly.
6. Make a heating maintenance appointment.

Fall is in full swing in Southern Ontario! It’s time to get your home plumbing system ready for winter. As the leaves change colour and temperatures continue to drop, it’s essential to ensure your pipes, gutters, and faucets are in good shape.

If you have a sump pump, make sure it’s clean and in good working order. Pour a bucket of water on it and check to see that it turns on and pumps the water out. Call a professional plumber if it’s not working correctly or if you notice dampness or foul odours. Your sump pump is at lower risk for freezing if it’s well maintained and in good condition.
