Rae Lockdust here as pride month is winding down with a political message!

Why?

Because pride is political. As great as it would be to exist in a cloud of rainbows and comedy, we’re not there

We have to honour that our community is still unsafe, even with these “special rights” heard about from extremists that are not experienced in reality.

Just because things are better than they were doesn’t mean they’re as good as they can be.
Looking outside of the q***r community all people are suffering under unjust bureaucratic barriers.

All of us are affected by politics, even if you’re not political, your loved ones living with disabilities, mental health issues, struggling with poverty, addiction, immigration, trying to afford an education, accessing health care.. That is all political.

I have often said that joy is an important part of the revolution, and it’s one that we have control over. A bigger part of the revolution is action and currently in Hamilton there is a candidate for mayor who I consider to be embodying this.

She represents the true power of not just pride, but change!
Scarlett Gillespie reminds us that the government is supposed to be for the people and that change is possible.

She inspires so many, myself included!

And so I fully support and endorse Scarlett Gillespie for Mayor of Hamilton
