What is a BCIN Designer?
In Ontario, a Building Code Identification Number is required for the design of plans for building permit application. Designers are certified by the MMAH for the design of certain buildings and are required to hold insurance and maintain registration. A BCIN designer takes exams that give them qualifications. The qualifications held under a BCIN are related to the type of building a holder can design. This ensures code compliance and gives clients peace of mind that their designs will be approved in a timely manner.
