This is one of the most amazing/hilarious things I've seen happen under a microscope. This video was captured (and hilariously edited) by one of our Microbial Diversity students Griffin Mountan. A predatory microscopic animal (Rotifer) attempts to capture an unsuspecting protist (Euglena) with its terrifying spinning mouthparts. Instead of being consumed, the lucky prey item ends up going for an epic ride.

Did you know that a specific type of fungus (Arthrobotrus oligospora) is capable of making traps, capturing and consuming microscopic worms (Caenorhabditis elegans)? Students in our Microbial Diversity lab got to witness this first-hand.
