The B.L.T. Rails to Trails Association is seeking committed community volunteers to help guide the future of the BLT Trail and ensure this important community asset continues to be maintained and developed.
We are currently recruiting for the following volunteer leadership positions:
• Chairperson
• Vice Chair
• Treasurer
• Corporate Secretary
• Additional Board Members (Min of 3)
Board members play a key role in the stewardship and oversight of the trail. Responsibilities include:
• Managing and maintaining the trail
• Applying for and writing grant applications (including submitting final reports)
• Determining scope of work and project priorities
• Working with contractors on trail repairs and improvements
• Completing basic trail maintenance
• Working with the Province, HRM, and other stakeholders regarding trail status
• Maintaining the Association’s membership
• Supporting and maintaining social media and website content
The expected time commitment for most Board roles is approximately 5 to 10 hours per week. The Chairperson role requires a greater commitment, approximately 20 or more hours per week.
This is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to your community, support outdoor recreation, and help shape the long term future of the BLT Trail.
If you are interested, please submit a cover letter and CV to [email protected] by February 20. In order to be elected as a board member, you must be a member of the B.L.T. Rails to Trails Association (join today).
We appreciate your interest and encourage you to share this opportunity with others who may wish to get involved.
