Registration is now open for the 3rd Biennial ASLA Science Contest for Students, happening April 21, 2026!
✔️ Open to Grades 7–9
✔️ 100% free
✔️ Curriculum-aligned, multiple-choice questions designed by university professors & scientists
Students tackle fun, challenging questions based on the previous grade’s science curriculum, build confidence, and see that university-level thinking is within reach
💡 The highest-scoring students will be recognized at an award ceremony at Dalhousie University with a certificate of achievement, which students can be proud of and carry forward into their academic futures.

Registration is open for the Atlantic Science Links Association (ASLA) Conference for Science Teachers!
If you have yet to save your spot, make sure to act fast! Space is limited. Remember that participation is completely free of charge!
Event: ASLA’s Conference for Science Teachers
Date: Friday, August 22nd, 2025
Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (lunch and tea/ coffee included).
Location: Dalhousie University, Halifax
Cost: Free!
Target Audience: Science teachers (especially relevant to grades 7-9 Nova Scotia science curriculum, but all teachers are welcome).
Topics will include:
· Peeling Back the Code: Exploring DNA from a Fruit
· Meet your Neighbours: Plants in and Around the Schoolyard
· Ocean School: An Immersive Resource for Science Education
· Identifying Rocks and Minerals
The day will also include an info session on making science fairs work for you, from Halifax Science-Tech Expo (HSTE) Chief Judge, Julia Sarty.
