Creativity doesn't just happen in the studio, it starts with the people who care for it. 🎨🛠️
This summer, NSCAD University students are rolling up their sleeves to refresh and restore our historic Fountain Campus through the Summer Studio & Campus Renewal Project. From painting walls to repairing furniture, our students are helping to shape the spaces where ideas are born and creativity thrives.
Special thanks to our student team Haley Nicholson, Petra Bouwers, Rafi Islam, Qing Wang, and Remi Geraci, for all their dedication and hard work in bringing our shared spaces to life. 👏🎉

From Halifax to Athens ✈️🇬🇷
NSCAD students are currently taking part in WTRA-3200: World Travel: Hephaistos Jewellery Study in Athens, a 6-credit travel and experiential course led by Rebecca Hannon, Chair of the Division of Craft.
From June 13 to July 2, students are based in Athens, Greece, studying at the Ilias Lalaounis Jewelry Museum and visiting historic sites across the city. The course offers an immersive, hands-on exploration of jewellery making, historical metalwork, and Greek antiquities—connecting studio practice with centuries of artistic tradition.
This marks NSCAD’s first world travel course in over a decade, offering an exciting international learning experience for students and combining contemporary jewellery practice with direct engagement in one of the world’s most historically rich cultural centres.
Take a look at some highlights from their trip so far!

Over the past semester, the Anna Leonowens Gallery has been transformed by eight remarkable MFA Thesis Exhibitions, each offering a glimpse into the research, experimentation, and diverse practices that define graduate study at NSCAD University.
As a final stage of the MFA, each graduating student presents a two-week solo thesis exhibition. The MFA thesis exhibitions were by Bianca McDonald, Nour El Sabeh, Forbes Sang, Nadine Sures, Yuting Song, Sarah Young, Vanessa Iafolla, and Quinn O’Connor.
These exhibitions represent more than a final requirement. They are the culmination of years of research, critical dialogue, studio practice, and community engagement.
Thank you to everyone who visited, attended openings and artist talks, supported these exhibitions, and helped celebrate the achievements of our graduating MFA students.
