The Big Change:

Your Ontario employer will first need to start an application by submitting your employment position details directly through the new employer portal before you can register an Expression of Interest (EOl).

This new portal will affect the following Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) streams;
📌Foreign Worker stream
📌International Student stream
📌In-Demand Skills stream

If you already have an EOl you may need to re-register.

This is a reminder that paying for a job in Canada is illegal.

Scenario 1:

If your first work permit application is refused after your original work permit expires, your second application will be denied as well.

You will need to apply for a restoration of work permit status to be able to stay in Canada if eligible (considering the 90 days rule). You are not allowed to work while your work permit restoration application is in process.

Scenario 3:
If your first work permit extension application is approved at any time, your new work permit status overrides everything else.
