Daikin Comfort Technologies has recalled certain Amana Through-the-Wall Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps. These units do not comply with electrical safety standards — the heating element may be energized any time the unit is plugged in, and a ground fault in the heater poses a burn or fire hazard.

Without certification, there is no assurance that the alarm will detect smoke or hazardous gases in an emergency. This product may be sold online under various brand names, so check the model number to identify the affected unit.
