The Sirens and Centaurs hit the road this weekend and, despite the weather doing its best impression of a monsoon, rugby was played. Allegedly.
As always, here's your completely unbiased and highly professional recap:
The Sirens took on the Clan in conditions that can only be described as "aquatic." Final score: Clan 22 β Sirens 12.
The ladies battled through rain, mud, and standing water that was dangerously close to being classified as a lake. Kieran crossed the line twice because apparently she was the only one who could reliably find it, while Chloe added a conversion and proved that kicking in a downpour is, in fact, possible.
By the end of the match, everyone was covered in so much mud that identifying teammates became more of a suggestion than a certainty.
Meanwhile, the Centaurs took on the Nor'Westers in what can only be described as a character-building experience.
Final score: Nor'Westers 75-ish β Centaurs 0.
We say "75-ish" because at some point the score became less important than determining whether the field was still technically grass.
Despite the result, the boys kept battling through conditions that would have been more suitable for amphibious vehicles than rugby players. Every carry came with a complimentary mud bath. Every tackle included free turf samples. Every ruck looked like a search-and-rescue operation.
There were also some memorable moments:
Pad Thai unveiled a revolutionary new defensive strategy by yelling "BOO!" at an opposing player before immediately intercepting a pass. Whether this was gamesmanship, psychological warfare, or pure coincidence remains under investigation.
Several players attempted to sprint and instead discovered new and exciting ways to slide.
By the final whistle, both teams looked less like rugby players and more like creatures emerging from a swamp.
Overall Verdict:
π§ Weather report: Wet.
π§ Field report: Wetter.
π§Ί Laundry report: Beyond saving.
Final tally:
Countless muddy tackles, approximately 400 pounds of mud transported home in kit bags, and a whole lot of rugby.
Some weekends you bring home wins. Some weekends you bring home enough mud to start a landscaping business.
