The Village Bookshop

Colbourn Publishers and Huron County author Tim B. Cu***ng are pleased to donate a copy of the Plan8 (Planet) to the 36th Conservation Auction (online for 2026). The Conservation Auction, of Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation and Exeter Lions Club, starts on April 9, 2026 and ends at 8 p.m. on April 16, 2026. When the online auction is live, the link will be posted here: https://conservationdinner.com/online-auctions/ Autographed by the author with bookmark about the writer and the book. The important 740-page novel Plan8 asks compelling questions about how our actions today can impact our future as the people of Planet Earth. When the climate crisis threatens the men with money they reinvent humanity inside the planet. The government of this new underground state passes laws to prevent humans from returning to the surface. A young couple and a career criminal have no choice but to break the underground state’s strictest law if they have any hope for freedom. In Part One (X8/Exit), read about a daring escape attempt by two young lovers from a heavily-guarded corporate complex. In Part Two (Climb8/Climate), read about their attempt to break into the very corporate fortress they escaped … the next step in their bold plan to find freedom. The book is full of action, richly drawn characters, and stimulating questions about where we are headed as citizens of Earth if we don’t take positive actions now. Value is more than $44 Canadian. In preparation for the Greek Night dinner and trail fundraiser at Nikos Restaurant on Monday, I am pulling together some of my Greek memorabilia and memories. It's making me nostalgic! Those beautiful Greek-themed T-shirts in this photo are presents made by my lovely wife, Judith. Some of the other keepsakes include a book I made, for Judith, of our photos of Explore Corfu as well as a photo album. There are also some LPs and CDs of Greek music including my favourite from Nana Mouskouri, Live at Herodes Atticus. There are also some Greek-themed Blu-Rays and DVDs including Shirley Valentine (when Judith and I went to Mykonos we visited HippieFish Mykonos, the area where Shirley Valentine was filmed). There's also a coaster of Petros the Pelican, whom we met in Mykonos. I'm not sure if I'll ever get a chance to go back to the Greek Islands again but I can always live it again through fond memories! (Thanks to my beautiful wife for having taken me there ... I am very blessed indeed!)

Eye of the Needle (1981) 06/24/2024

Remembering the late, great Canadian actor Donald Sutherland this past weekend ... watched, free on Tubi, Ken Follett's Eye of the Needle ... engaging performance by Sutherland:

Eye of the Needle (1981) A ruthless N**i spy in World War II, undercover in England before D-Day, finds his icy resolve broken by a woman living with her disabled husband.
