Our last BYOM event of the year is coming up- mark your calendars! And join me in thanking the Goderich Print Shop for their generous donation of flyers to advertise our event! We are grateful to have local businesses that are so supportive of our student-led initiatives! This time around we’re going all out. We have 5 participating businesses being Surfs Up Skate Cafe, Cravings, Cait’s Cafe, Blake Street Bakery and The Den Juice Co. This time around any drink that each of these businesses sell are available to be free when you bring in your own mug from the timing of 10am to 2pm on Saturday April 26th. On top of that we also are running a raffle where 3 lucky winner can bring home some eco friendly prizes. And even more exciting news we are joking up with the Lake Huron Coastal Centre with their beach cleaning up happening on the same day from 10am to 12pm and after that a beach barbecue. For participating in the beach clean up you will also be able to earn a raffle ticket in the prize draw. We are very excited to have this event happen and with all of the support we have from our team, the Goderich print shop for donating the posters to us, the Huron county “supporting youth leadership grant” for making this all possible, the amazing people at Lake Huron Coastal centre for organizing the beach clean up and working along side us for our two events and last but not least the amazing business who we will be working with on April 26th at 10am to 2pm to help reduce the waste we create by using single use packages. Thank you everyone and we cannot wait to see you all out there!!!

Our BYOM event was another success!! We held it at local rolla’s booth at the ymca here in Goderich and we helped prevent over 44 coffee cups be wasted and thrown out. We can’t thank Local Rolla enough for allowing us to host our event with them and they were so kind and generous to our helpers who were there. With that being said even on days that we aren’t paying for coffees if you bring your own mug you should still do it. Tim Hortons offers a 10 cent off deal on any drinks and it helps free our environment of possible litter the more we stop using single use cups and bottles. As well using your own mug keeps your drink hotter or colder for longer than the regular one use mugs (for those that don’t finish their drink in 10 minutes.) thank you to everyone for the support and for those who came on out to both get a coffee on us or to our members who were there. We have more events and plans going on now that it’s spring and we are very excited to start on them when the time comes.
