Taking a much needed break for the summer to work on some over due personal projects. Have a great summer all!

I would like to share this as I think its important to keep in mind that big stores such as Davids up-charge and take a big cut of the money for the alterations. Thats where they make a lot of their money. If you are working with an independent seamstress please keep in mind that this is a skill that has usually been developed over years. You may not necessarily see the value behind what has been done, but rest assured, there is value and time that goes into the work being done for you. So if your alterations cost $80 and your seamstress has spent 4 hours working on the garment, plus your fittings (30mins), plus supplies and overheads (sewing machine upkeep can be upwards of $100 a year, notions and thread costs etc.), they are not in fact gouging you. I know few people who would work for $10-$12 an hour, but most seamstresses do it because its something they love.
