DRIVER CHARGED FOLLOWING COLLISION WITH SCHOOL BUS IN BRANT COUNTY

(BRANT, ON) – A driver has been charged with Careless Driving following a collision involving a school bus in Brant County.

On Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at approximately 3:20 p.m., members of the Brant County OPP responded to a motor vehicle collision on Bishopsgate Road, between Fifth Concession Road and Golf Links Road. The collision involved a school bus transporting 30 children.

As a result of the investigation, a 43-year-old driver from St. George, Ontario, was charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act. All students on board the bus were assessed and found to be uninjured. The driver also did not sustain any serious injuries.

Brant County OPP reminds all motorists to remain alert, avoid distractions, and stay focused while driving. Drivers are urged to use extra caution around school buses and to obey flashing lights and extended stop signs. Attentive driving helps protect everyone on our roadways.

The OPP continues to prioritize road safety through enforcement and public education. Impaired and distracted driving remain leading causes of serious collisions and fatalities on Ontario roads.

Anyone who suspects impaired driving is encouraged to call 9-1-1 immediately. Your call could save a life.

Behind a bus and getting frustrated?
Yes, we understand it can be frustrating but please give us space.

Thankful there were no injuries this morning for either party and before we started picking up students.
