Inclusion Canada has been consistent in calling for a more adequate Canada Disability Benefit that truly lifts people above the poverty line so they can live in dignity.
• No clawbacks — provinces/insurers shouldn’t deduct it from existing supports.
• Easy access — automatic, barrier-free enrollment with clear, simple eligibility.
• Co-design and transparency — ongoing input from people with disabilities and families along with disability groups like ours who have expertise to share.
• The benefit must be increased to live up to its promise of lifting people with a disability out of poverty.
Our CEO Krista Carr offers this clear perspective in Canadian Affairs. The article can be accessed on our curated news page.
