We're getting excited for our upcoming exhibition "Still Here: Preserving Our Legacy".
Still Here: Preserving Our Legacy is a multimedia exhibition celebrating Black families in New Brunswick whose histories date back to the 1700s. Developed by The Still Here Initiative, including artists Thandiwe McCarthy and Gary Weekes, along with historian Dr. Mary McCarthy and administrator Jeannie Rediker, the exhibition explores themes of heritage, community, resilience, and identity through the stories of fifteen families. It features a mirrored centrepiece of contemporary portraits surrounded by documentary-style images.
The exhibition will be open on July 18, 2026! Join us for the Public Opening Reception on July 31st from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Harrison McCain Pavilion. The artist will be in attendance, and there will also be a book launch and signing during the event. Additionally, Dee Hernandez will perform. Admission is free, and light refreshments will be served.
