Mahshid

This quilt was made for a colleague who wanted to gift a quilt for a friend's baby.

The couple is Chinese and a few items were requested for this special quilt. I was told the numbers 8 and 9 are of significance, so the quilt is 9 x 9 clamshells. The panda is for good luck and the bunny is because it is the year of the rabbit. The binding is gold stiched with red thread and I tried to maintain symmetry in the quilt.

It was also requested that it be a traditionally feminin quilt. So the pink heart spoke to that.

This was my first attempt at doing clamshells. Something I would work with again. Also my first time with a curved binding.

I hope they like their quilt!

Kate

This quilt is for one of the nurses at Neupath on Woodward in Ottawa. Kate and her husband are having their first baby and I decided to make them a wee quilt. Kate and Madison are always so kind when I go for my injections.

This batting has a very high loft giving the quilt a puffy look.

The backing is minky. Which is polyester and not great for all babies, but the top is 100% cotton with cotton thread.

I hope she likes it! She gets it this Friday.

Dave and Sarah

Dave is matty's brother and Sarah his lovely wife. My wonderful in-laws.

This is the first king sized quilt I have done in a while (laid out on a king sized bed).

I quilted this on a longarm at Happy Wife Quilting in Carleton Place.

More teals and greys! The backing is minky.
