End of July had some good dry weather so I tackled the roof. The old asphalt shingles were beyond expired. They came off fairly easily but I still found the push/pull to be painful on my Degenerative Disc Disease in my neck so I enlisted my "power tools" (aka my husband James).

I patched a hole, replaced a roof vent and redid the flashing around the chimney. The easiest part was the ridge as I was able to straddle the roof like a horse. My body did not enjoy working on the 8/12 pitch angle and told me so harshly.

I lost about 10 pounds in sweat but the sweat equity gained me 10 pounds of muscle and accomplishment. I never want to do asphalt shingles again so I'm thinking metal for the next time.
