Mu Sigma Chapter

Jonathan is a registered nurse with over eight years of clinical experience across diverse acute care settings. He has served as a preceptor to nursing students and a mentor to early career nurses, supporting clinical skill development, professional socialization, and resilience. Jonathan holds a Master of Nursing from the University of Alberta, during which he conducted a scoping review on mentorship challenges faced by mentors and mentees across Sub-Saharan Africa, informing culturally responsive mentorship strategies.

His practice blends clinical expertise with a commitment to education, and he has led initiatives to improve orientation processes, strengthen feedback mechanisms, and enhance competency development for new and transitioning nurses. Passionate about evidence-based practice, Jonathan is transitioning into cardiovascular research nursing, with an interest in generating and translating evidence to improve patient outcomes. He is known for collaborative leadership, clear communication, and a pragmatic approach to mentoring that prioritizes safety, competence, and career development.

Ruth Oyedamola Ibiyosi is a Registered Nurse with a passion for mental health nursing and a deep belief in the power of compassionate, person-centred care. Her clinical journey has taken her through diverse healthcare settings, and in each one she has been drawn to the moments that matter most , sitting with someone in their hardest hour and reminding them they are not alone. Mental health nursing chose her as much as she chose it. She is driven by a desire to advocate for those whose voices are often overlooked, and to bring a trauma-informed, whole-person approach to every interaction.

Being inducted as a Nurse Leader is a milestone she does not take lightly. She sees leadership not as a title but as a responsibility, to her patients, her colleagues, and the profession she loves. Looking ahead, she is working towards her long-term goal of becoming a physician, where she hopes to bridge the gap between nursing and medicine to deliver even deeper, more integrated care. She is excited for what comes next.
