For many Indigenous Peoples, culture, ceremony, language, and connection to community play an important role in healing and wellness.

At enCompass, we are grateful to work alongside Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community partners who help create opportunities for cultural connection through ceremonies, teachings, and traditional practices. These experiences foster belonging, strengthen identity, and support healing journeys.

When reintegrating into the community from the federal justice system, people need stability and support so they can focus on rebuilding their lives.

Independence Apartments in Edmonton is a trauma-informed, client-centred program that supports individuals as they navigate that transition.

🗨️ "This program gave me an opportunity to get a kick start at getting back on my feet and be independent.” - Client Comment

This supervised Community-Based Residential Facility (CBRF), owned and operated by enCompass, connects residents to support networks and develops the skills necessary to break the cycle of justice system involvement.

We’re proud of the outcomes from the care and commitment of our team and of the resilience and progress we see in residents as they build more stable futures.

Every year, Edmonton sees up to 1,000 high-risk intimate partner violence (IPV) cases, highlighting the need for faster, more coordinated support for survivors.

Since 2025, our team has worked alongside the Edmonton Police Service, YWCA Edmonton, and other frontline agencies as part of the Integrated Domestic Violence Response Team (IDVRT).

IDVRT helps connect survivors to the right supports at the right time through coordinated safety planning, trauma-informed care, and stronger collaboration across services.

By working together, we can respond more effectively and help prevent further harm across Edmonton.

June is National Indigenous History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the histories, cultures, languages, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Canada.

At enCompass, we know that understanding history helps us strengthen relationships, provide culturally informed services, and better support the individuals, families, and communities we serve.

Throughout the month, we will be sharing opportunities to learn, reflect, celebrate, and take action as part of our ongoing commitment to reconciliation.

Addressing mental health stigma means creating spaces where people feel safe asking for support. In 2025, we hosted over 400 individuals in our emotion management courses, provided free counselling onsite for our clients, and started a peer-support program for clients.

This Mental Health Awareness Month and beyond, let’s keep showing up for real conversations where people can speak honestly and be met with understanding.

Change starts when people feel heard and supported.

From 2022 to 2025, our Family Violence Prevention Centre helped 6,597 individuals move from crisis to safety, supporting 979 families and 2,848 children.

We’re incredibly proud that throughout this period, 98% of clients reported feeling supported and heard.

The success stories and client testimonials in our latest Family Violence Services Impact Report demonstrate what’s possible when a community invests in resources and expertise to end domestic violence.
