On September 27, 2024, the Station 22 pump crew from 2 Platoon was on their way to a medical call when they noticed smoke and flames from a third-floor suite in an apartment building. The crew immediately requested another pump to respond to their call and staged their pump directly in front of the building. They initiated a rapid transitional attack, knocking down the fire from the exterior. They then immediately transitioned into an offensive interior attack by forcing the door on the third-floor suite to gain access. Upon entry, the crew initiated a search, locating a patient inside the suite in a hallway. The patient was rescued from the suite and received medical assistance from EFRS and Alberta Health Services - EMS crews outside.

The actions of these members demonstrated the core values of Edmonton Fire Rescue Services — Service, Safety, Teamwork, and Relationships — and they were recognized with a very well-deserved commendation from Acting Chief Lazenby.
