Well I am still going through my images from BC, and man do I have a lot to cull. I came across this video, and I thought I would share. This is a female great grey owl vocalizing. Apparently they have quite a distinct repertoire of sounds that they use for mating, territory, defense and calling to their young.
Great Grey Owls are born with natural hunting instincts, but perfecting their skills takes time. During their first few months, they refine their ability to locate prey by sound and execute precise pounces through practice, trial and error, and by observing their parents.

This was probably one of the most exhilarating moments I've experienced as a wildlife photographer. Pure luck led me to spot this young great grey owlet perched on a signpost along a quiet country highway. Within moments, it began calling for its mother, clearly ready for a meal! Then, with an eager cry for food, it launched into flight toward her. Watching that moment unfold was both exhilarating and beautiful—an experience I'll never forget.

Revisiting my old photos today. Often I edit a few from a series, then go out shooting again, and the other pics sit there waiting to be edited-some day. Barred owlet.
