Two great reasons to get out on your bike this July — whether you're chasing a podium or just a good day in the saddle.
🏁 Speed Stampede | July 10–11 | Glenmore Athletic Park, Calgary
Track racing at its most exciting. Sprint and endurance omniums, the legendary Golden Wheelrace, and Kiddie Kilos for the up-and-comers — plus pancake breakfasts, a BBQ, ice cream, and lawn games to keep the whole family entertained all weekend. Racers and spectators alike are welcome.
🌲 Biking Like a Viking | July 12 | Beaver Hills Biosphere (start/finish in Sherwood Park)
A relaxed, no-timing, no-podium recreational ride through Alberta's UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Pick the distance that suits you — 35, 55, 100, or 160 km — with well-stocked aid stations along the way and a catered indoor buffet waiting at the finish line. Perfect for riders of all levels.
From the velodrome to the biosphere, there's a spot for every kind of cyclist this weekend. Which one will we see you at? 👇 Let us know in the comments!

🚨 Masters Riders: Is Your Race License Ready for Nationals?
We’re seeing a common mistake that could prevent riders from registering for the 2026 Canadian Masters Road Championships.
If you're 35 years of age or older and plan to compete at the Canadian Masters Road Championships, your ABA license must include the Masters Road designation.
❌ Elite License = Does not make you eligible for Masters National Championships.
✅ Masters Road License = Required to compete in the Canadian Masters Road Championships.
We know licensing can be confusing, and many riders have selected an Elite license without realizing the difference. We want to help you sort it out before registration opens so you don't run into any last-minute surprises.
Not sure what license you have?
Take a moment to log into your account and check your license category. If you have questions or need to make a change, we're happy to help.

Let's make sure you're on the start line this August—not stuck fixing your license at the last minute! 🚴

🥰 Community 🥰 It's what it's all about.
Good morning everyone,
As I reflect on this past weekend, I simply want to say thank you.
To the Stony Plain BMX Board, executive, volunteers, track crew, and the entire BMX community—thank you for everything you did to make this race weekend possible.
From the moment I arrived at the track on Friday, it was obvious how much work had gone on behind the scenes. With tarps already in place, blowers and tiger torches ready, and volunteers standing by waiting for the rain, your preparation and commitment spoke volumes. When the weather challenged us, it wasn't one person or one club that stepped up—it was an entire community.
Watching volunteers from Stony Plain and other tracks work side by side to uncover the track and get it race-ready was something I'll never forget. It was a true reminder of what makes BMX in Alberta so special.
Despite the forecasts and uncertainty, we still welcomed just over 290 riders for an incredible weekend of racing. That only happened because of the countless hours of planning, preparation, and the willingness of so many people to do whatever it took to give our riders the opportunity to race. For that, I am incredibly grateful.
A heartfelt thank you to Chief Commissaire Chris Ferguson and his entire officiating crew. Your professionalism, communication, and constant updates throughout the weekend kept everyone informed and allowed families to make decisions with confidence. Your dedication helped ensure we kicked off our season without missing a beat.
To every rider, parent, grandparent, sibling, volunteer, coach, official, sponsor, and fan who came out this weekend—thank you. Whether you raced, cheered from the sidelines, volunteered your time, or simply believed that we could make it happen, you were part of something special. Seeing the smiles on our riders' faces, the communities supporting one another, and yes—even the muddiest tent city I've ever seen—was a reminder of why we do this.
As President of Alberta BMX, weekends like this make me incredibly proud to be part of this sport. They remind me that BMX is so much more than racing. It's about people coming together, supporting one another, overcoming challenges, and creating unforgettable experiences for our kids and families.
On behalf of Alberta BMX, thank you to each and every one of you. This weekend was a success because of your hard work, your passion, and your willingness to put our riders first. We simply could not have done it without you.
And to those who decided to stay home because of the forecast, we certainly understand. Hopefully this weekend reminds us all that Alberta weather can surprise us, and sometimes taking the chance leads to some of the best memories of the season.
Thank you again, Stony Plain BMX. Your dedication, hospitality, and teamwork did not go unnoticed. You should all be incredibly proud of what you accomplished this weekend.
