Apus Malas

June has been Pride month, and to support my people, I made a mala with matching bracelet to remember to be proud all year round. I chose rainbow hematite to get rid of allllll the negative energy around. I also used green aventurine and green agate. Green agate is used to help with a sense if justice and improve decision making. Green aventurine is good for stability and, similar to the rainbow hematite, it also helps get rid of negative energies. I distressed the wooden beads a bit to represent that sometimes us qu**rs get burned, but we are still amazing. Wire, charms and bamboo were also used to create this mala.

When I make a Japamala (or just mala) each one has 108 beads, with knots in between each bead. I use a guru bead as the 109th bead as well as charms and such at the point of each mala. I put intention and a mantra into every knot I tie. I incorporate my knowledge of smudging from my Indigenous background to cleanse each mala with sage after I have completed making it. This washes away any negative energies that might have attached itself to any of the materials used. If I am able to plan it, I also place the completed mala in the full moon to charge the gemstones so the mala has as many benefits as possible. I make bracelets as well. I make them out of various materials, these I also smudge and if possible I charge gemstones used.
