Just read this article on ASIS School Security Standards. I agree with the author. Physical security and technology cannot be a panacea for security plans. That's why I like the School Command Seven Rings of Safety. The most important ring in this model is the innermost ring, comprised of mental health, climate & culture, & student intervention best practices. School security plans should heavily emphasize prevention and not over-rely on physical security and technology. We have to be proactive, not reactive. That being said, physical security and technology should be leveraged as well. They still have a place.
