Scritchy scratchy
two big baby Anna’s hummingbirds almost ready to fledge!
Did you know as the new feathers grow they are encased in stiff sheaths, Scratching helps break open these shell sheaths so the new feathers can unfurl which can feel very itchy.
Two baby roufous hummingbirds learning the art of flying. When there wings beating around 50 times a second or more controlling this crazy flight can take a lot of practice strength and control!
A lil compilation of some fun moments I’ve captured over the years featuring a great blue heron, half blind great horned owl, red breasted nuthatch and a barred owl and its dinner the bunny and lil family of swainsons thrush’s.
Bird Mom feeding her kids and doing some cleaning of the nest removing a cedar needle sticking up that fell from above and got lodged under the kids! Species is Spotted Towhee and it took many many hours for me to find this nest that was suitable to film without disturbing the parents.

A sea of green with a touch of yellow..
I found this yellowthroat about a week ago.
At first I heard her mate singing Which caught my attention and made me look closer at the Bush's off to the side of this path where he was singing. So I waited for about a minute more by them before i saw this plant begin to start shaking slightly like something small was climbing up it. Instinctively I focused on it readying my camera to take a picture and hoping whatever was below would come up to the top. To my luck it did eventually although be it very sneakily and slowly allowing me to only get a glimpse and this fella through the brush before it flew off coming back a bit later and allowing me to get some more photos of it since I believe it had a nest nearby as it came back with food.
For those who dont know Common yellowthroats Prefer to nest low down in tussocks of weeds, grasses, or small shrubs. Making it almost impossible to see their nest
