The Trans-Canada is closed again, and once again, there is no way around it.

A landslide near Revelstoke has shut Highway 1 between there and Golden - about 143 kilometres - after Wednesday's debris flow near the Skunk Cabbage Day Use Area.

The cause was familiar: a warm day, then overnight rain, then a hillside deciding it had somewhere better to be.

Officially, there is no detour. Unofficially, there is no detour either.

Crews are draining and clearing the site, with no reopening time given. For now, the main artery between the Rockies and the BC interior is simply gone.

It is the kind of closure that makes you wonder how a single road carries quite so much of the country on it.
