⚠️ DISTRACTION THEFTS IN OUR COMMUNITY ⚠️

#545 – The Cornwall Police Service is reminding residents to stay alert following reports today of distraction thefts in our community.

In these incidents, suspects often approach older adults wearing visible jewelry in parking lots, outside businesses or other public places. They may ask for directions or attempt to start a friendly conversation before moving into the victim's personal space and stealing jewelry or other valuables.

Help protect yourself by:

🔹 Keeping a safe distance from strangers
🔹 Being cautious of anyone who unexpectedly enters your personal space
🔹 Avoiding interactions with anyone who insists on placing jewelry or another item on you
🔹 Keeping valuable jewelry concealed whenever possible
🔹 Reporting suspicious activity to police immediately
